John F. Kennedy, 1917-1963

When news of the assassination of President Kennedy reached Georgetown the afternoon of Friday, November 22, 1963, students and other members of the university community gathered in Dahlgren Quadrangle at the center of campus, and Fr. John F. Devine, S.J., said Mass from the porch of Old North — the porch from which President George Washington addressed Georgetown students in 1797.
